A Kuhn Rikon timeline:
- 1899 The "Rykon Spinning Mill" is converted into a coppersmith’s and tinning shop owned by the Kindlimann brothers.
- 1926 Heinrich Kuhn acquires what used to be the Kindlimann brothers’ copper and steel pan factory.
- Heinrich Kuhn develops the first aluminum cookware suitable for electric ranges.
- 1932 The premature death of Heinrich Kuhn. His 18 year-old son, Henri, takes over the management.
- 1947 Henri’s younger brother Jacques, a trained engineer, joins the firm as technical manager. Under the joint management of the two brothers, the firm prospers.
- 1949 Development of the "DUROMATIC" pressure cooker. This landmark product becomes the company’s first export.
- 1969 Henri Kuhn passes away, aged only 55.
- 1975 The third generation of Kuhns joins the business. The first double-walled cookware is patented and launched under the brand name "DUROTHERM."
- 1995 Sales of Duromatic pressure cookers surpass 6 million.
- 2001 Kuhn Rikon celebrates its 75th anniversary.
