What
is 18/10 Stainless? If you're
shopping for stainless, you should be familiar with two terms:
grade and gauge. Grade refers to the chromium and nickel content
of the stainless steel; chromium makes the cutlery corrosion-resistant
and nickel gives it strength.
Most cutlery comes in a grade of 18/10, meaning 18 per cent
chromium and 10 per cent nickel.
Gauge refers to the thickness of the material; the lower the
number, the thicker the material. A good-quality cutlery will
be 18 gauge, 18/10 stainless.
